Long Island Restaurant Makes Over A Dozen Teens Projectile Vomit While Eating There
SOURCE - Twelve 13-year-old girls ended up at hospital with food poisoning after getting sick and 'projectile vomiting' from eating food at a New York Japanese steakhouse.
The group was celebrating Arial Arias' daughter's birthday at Kumo Sushi and Steakhouse on Long Island when they fell ill, along with at least two dozen more diners, including a pregnant woman.
Witnesses at the restaurant, near Stony Brook University, said the scene was 'distressing' with people vomiting both inside and outside the venue.
This might be the worst birthday party ever. For my 7th birthday, we went to Chuck E. Cheese only to arrive and find out that location had permanently closed over night. I was so upset that I cried and people brought my gifts while sitting in my parent's car. As pathetic as that is, this sounds much, much worse.
This feels like a scene out of Stand By Me when at the pie eating contest, everyone starts puking on each other. A complete and total barf-o-rama.
What happened at Kumo was cooked rice was left for a long period of time at room temperature. 28 total people were vomiting inside the restaurant. Can you imagine the logistics? I am guessing a few lucky souls made to the bathroom but once one person starts puking openly at their seat, it's probably a free-for-all. People just blowing chunks all over the place. It sounds like it was sudden too.
Walking out of the restaurant must have bizarre. You've all been through something bizarre and traumatic together but it's also highly embarrassing. I wouldn't want to see any of these people ever again. I'd like to pretend it never happened. Could you ever even have rice again? It would be awhile before I could even trust a restaurant.
Suffolk County has allowed the restaurant to re-open (imagine being on that cleaning crew?). But how do you shake that reputation? The Daily Mail wrote about it. It's literally getting international attention. I wonder what this poor girl will do for her party next year. I just had a sleepover after the Chuck E. Cheese nightmare and rented Spaceballs.
